Claude licence calculator
Find out how many of your Claude seats are actually working. Enter the seats you pay for and how many people use Claude in a typical week, and see the idle seats and what they cost you each month and each year. It runs in your browser: nothing is stored or sent.
How it works
Idle seats = seats you pay for − people who use Claude in a typical week. Idle spend = idle seats × price per seat. The page shows the result per month and per year, with a seat-by-seat picture.
Example: 40 Claude Team Standard seats on annual billing (US$20 per seat per month), with 15 people using Claude weekly, means 25 idle seats (63%), about US$500 a month or US$6,000 a year on seats nobody uses.
Claude prices used (US dollars, checked 5 October 2026)

Questions people ask
- What counts as an idle seat?
- A paid Claude seat that isn’t used in a typical week. If 40 people have seats and 15 use Claude weekly, 25 seats are idle.
- Where do the prices come from?
- Anthropic’s published US-dollar list prices on claude.com/pricing, checked on 5 October 2026. Edit the price per seat to match your own invoice. Enterprise also bills usage at API rates, which isn’t included here.
- How do I find how many people use Claude?
- Organisation owners can see member activity in Claude’s admin settings. If you’re not sure, a fair estimate is how many people used Claude for real work last week.
- Why do Claude seats sit idle?
- Usually because people get access but no training, and the knowledge the team already shares never reaches Claude, so it feels like one more tool rather than a colleague.
- How do we get idle seats working?
- Connect the drives, docs and Projects your team already uses, build shared Skills once for everyone, train each role on Chat, Cowork and Claude Code, and keep it current as Claude changes.
- Is my data stored or sent anywhere?
- No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is saved or sent to us.
